Why is my tongue white?

Debris, bacteria and dead cells getting lodged between the enlarged and sometimes inflamed papillae.

Can be caused by:
• Poor oral hygiene
• Dry mouth
• Dehydration
• Smoking or other tobacco
• Excessive alcohol use
• Mouth breathing
• Low roughage diet (eating mostly soft or mashed foods
Can also be caused by oral thrush, lichen plants, cancer, autoimmune diseases
